Tottenham handed transfer boost with Arsenal Champions League race amid Dusan Vlahovic claim

As the summer transfer window approaches, Fabio Paratici's long list of potential Tottenham targets has started to emerge. Spurs will want to bring some new additions to north London in the summer to help strengthen Antonio Conte's squad.

The Italian has already done a good job, with improvements to individual players and the overall team performances. This has helped Spurs climb the table and be in the strong position they are, going into the final day of the season.

The Lilywhites just need one point from their trip to Carrow Road on Sunday, where they will face an already relegated Norwich side. If they are able to secure a Champions League spot, this will give them a huge boost in their hunt for new arrivals.

One of the players football.london understands is on Tottenham's radar is Victor Osimhen, who is currently playing for Serie A side Napoli. The Nigerian has scored 14 goals and registered five appearances in 26 league appearances.

Spurs will need to decide whether their striker hunt is for someone to be a back-up for Harry Kane or if they bring in someone in who can also play in wide positions, so could play alongside the England captain. Either way, Osimhen could be a suitable addition.

At the beginning of the season, the 23-year-old featured in his side's 2-0 victory against Venezia and was praised by the now former Cagliari boss. "Osimhen is phenomenal because he runs alone at five players and gets through," Walter Mazzarri admitted.

"If you look at genuine scoring opportunities, compared to the number Napoli created lately, I didn’t see that many." The centre-forward has gone from strength to strength as the season has gone on and it has earned him more praise, from across the league.

Napoli's 1-0 defeat to AC Milan in March saw Osimhen play for almost the whole game, producing 100% pass accuracy and winning half of his 12 duels. This led to praise from England international and Milan defender, Fikayo Tomori.

"Osimhen is a really strong striker and fast too. It was difficult to stop him, and we managed to do that, especially in such an important game," he explained.

Two games later and Napoli took three points off Udinese, with the 23-year-old scoring both, something the boss Luciano Spalletti commended, post match. "He is a footballer who manages to go beyond his limit," Osimhen's boss said.

"When you think he is at his maximum potential, he manages to give an extra boost. He is a strong footballer, but you don’t push him too far. We don’t pay him enough compliments."

That is major praise for the striker who has been complimented by many all season. If Tottenham do decide to target Osimhen, they will likely have competition from teams across the world.

This includes Arsenal, who have been reported front runners for the Nigerian for a while. Another player who the two north London clubs were previously battling to sign was Dusan Vlahovic.

In the January transfer window, the 22-year-old made the move to Juventus and has already scored seven league goals for his new side. He was a player that both London clubs missed out on, but Osimhen has been described as "stronger" than the Serbian.

"When I criticized the Nigerian, he had only scored 4 goals. Now, Spalletti is working hard on him, forging him into one of the best strikers," former Inter Milan star Alessandro Altobelli admitted.

"In this moment he is enjoying great growth. And, for me, he is better than Vlahovic."

So it could be another race to a signing for Spurs and the Gunners, although the Lilywhites could have the upper hand, depending on Sunday's result. The Nigerian, like a lot of players, wants to be playing in the Champions League and therefore, whoever secures a spot in the top four on the final day of the season, is likely to take the lead in the race for the likes of Osimhen.

After the final games of the Premier League season have been played, thoughts will turn to the summer window, more than they already have. If Conte's side can secure a Champions League spot, they will become an even more attractive prospect for a number of players and this could help in the pursuit of a number of targets.
