Tottenham handed potential Christian Eriksen transfer boost amid Man United offer

Talk around Christian Eriksen's next move is still very much topic of conversation at Tottenham and with the summer transfer window now open, offers are starting to be made. The Dane made the miraculous return to Premier League football on a short-term move to Brentford in January.

Eriksen made 11 league appearances, scoring one goal, registering four assists and making a big impact on Thomas Frank's side. However now the 30-year-old has settled back into life in the capital, it is time for him to decide what he wants to do next.

Brentford are understandably keen on keeping Eriksen at the club. However the Danish international has already admitted he would like to be playing in the Champions League and some reports have suggested he won't stay with the Bees.

Man United have now come into the equation and on Tuesday, it was reported that the Red Devils have made an offer. This hands Spurs even more competition in the pursuit of their former midfielder, although United also can't offer Eriksen Champions League football.

football.london have reported that the Lilywhites have held internal discussions about bringing the Dane back to N17. It is also believed that the 30-year-old would like to remain in London, as well as playing in the top European competition and Tottenham is where he can get both of those things.

It isn't only fans that would welcome Eriksen if he made a return, Dejan Kulusevski has also admitted that the Dane would be "most welcome" back at Tottenham. Although United's offer provides more competition, the door is seems to still be open for a potential move back to Spurs, suggested in the 30-year-old's recent comments.

"I don’t know why it’s hard to make a decision. Maybe because you need that last thing in order to find out what you want. It’s really hard to say what the outcome will be," the midfielder admitted to Danish publication, B.T ( via The Spurs Web ).

"Sometimes it can happen fast, other times it’s slow. You are not always a master of your own faith.

"It also depends what the possibilities are in terms of clubs. And then you have to make a decision from that. For me it’s about making the right decision," Eriksen added.

This is clearly a big decision for the 30-year-old to make and one he will want to make sure is right for him and his family. For now, Eriksen has admitted he is going to take a bit of a break, but will be informed if anything "interesting comes along".

"I’m going on holiday and will be relaxing a bit. We are gonna go swimming, get a little tan and eat some nice food," he explained.

"I’ll have my cellphone turned on. I know my agent well enough that he will call me if anything interesting comes along, and if not, he won’t call me."

There are many factors which do seem to point in Tottenham's favour - Champions League football, a good location, somewhere Eriksen has played before and under a manager he has previously worked under. This would be a benefit to the club and the player.

Both the Lilywhites, Conte and Eriksen himself would know what to expect if he returned. The 30-year-old has bags of Premier League experience, was part of Inter Milan's title winning team and has shown his quality when he was previously at Tottenham and during his short time at Brentford.

All of these factors, matched with the fact he would be another free transfer for Spurs to secure, would point to a good deal being on the cards. However fans will have to wait a bit longer to find out where the Dane decides to spend next season.
