Tottenham handed major transfer blow as Wolves give 'green light' for Adama Traore exit

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Wednesday, January 19.

Dembele blow

Ousmane Dembele is ready to reject reported transfer interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal after telling Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez that he wants to sign a new contract, according to Sport.

The report claims that Dembele held fresh talks with the Spaniard on Tuesday given his current deal at the Nou Camp is set to expire at the end of this campaign.

The French international joined from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund for a reported £126million back in 2017 but has struggled to make a meaningful impact, suffering from a number of injuries during his time with the Catalan club.

Mourinho twist

Former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is admired by Everton, as relayed by our colleagues at the Liverpool Echo, with the Toffees on the hunt for a new coach after Rafa Benitez was sacked on Sunday afternoon and Mourinho has previously heaped praise on the Merseyside-based club.

“I managed against [Roberto] Martinez’s Everton, [David] Moyes’ Everton and it is always difficult,” Mourinho said during his time with Manchester United.

“It is always beautiful with a great crowd and a great stadium which is historical for my country as Eusebio scored four goals in one match there during the World Cup in ’66.

“I had so many great matches there. Some I lost, some I won, but always a great match.”

Traore boost

According to the Daily Star, the imminent arrival of Portugal Under-21 international Chiquinho to Wolves could allow Adama Traore to finally leave the club.

Spurs have been heavily linked with the Spanish international, with Antonio Conte keen to bolster his squad in an attempt to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Some reports have even suggested that Traore could be utilised in place of Emerson Royal at right-wing-back if he does join the north Londoners.
