Tottenham handed major boost in Harry Kane transfer saga with Man Utd and Bayern Munich decision

Tottenham may have been handed a huge boost in their hopes of keeping Harry Kane at the club in the summer transfer window. The striker continues to be linked with an exit from the north London outfit in the coming weeks as his future remains uncertain due to his dwindling contract.

At this stage, Kane has just 12 months remaining on his deal with the Lilywhites and a contract renewal is no closer to being agreed. It has led to rumours over a potential move away so Spurs avoid losing the 29-year-old on a free transfer in the following year, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United linked.

"I think he probably doesn't get the appreciation he should," interim Tottenham manager Ryan Mason said on Kane after victory over Leeds on the final day of the Premier League season. "The goals yes, outstanding, a 30-goal season in the Premier League is incredible but also his overall performances are just outstanding and I also think as well to go through what happened in the World Cup, from a mental point of view, to come back and do what he's done for the past four or five months, I think it speaks volumes for the player and the person."

There would be few denying that an exit for Kane would have a huge impact on Tottenham, losing his goals, playmaking and overall leadership. It means that keeping hold of him is a huge task for the club to ensure their short-term security, though the interest is still there from rivals.

Luckily for the Lilywhites, that may have moved on as Fabrizio Romano reports that both Bayern Munich and Manchester United are keen on landing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. That wouldn't rule out their interest in Kane, but it may suggest that other options are being assessed while a deal appears unlikely this summer.

Any concrete move to either side for the Serbian international would likely end interest in Tottenham's number nine for the foreseeable future. With another elite club adding a striker to their ranks, there may be a general lack of options for Kane to switch to, pushing a stay for this season and beyond closer to a tangible possibility.
