Tottenham handed Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar transfer lifeline after huge admission

Tottenham have been handed a potential lifeline in their pursuit of Inter Milan defensive duo Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar. It comes after the pair have been heavily linked with a reunion to former boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian head coach has already been busy with making additions to his thin Spurs squad, adding three signings since guiding them to an unlikely top four finish. Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma have all been confirmed, with more than ten weeks still left for business to be concluded in the window.

A centre-back is reportedly on the agenda, with Bastoni and Skriniar heavily linked. However, the former’s agent has already spoken out about his desire to stay with the Nerazzurri: “He is a huge fan of the team he plays for,” representative Tullio Tinti told SportItalia.

“He likes being at Inter, but he is also a professional, that is how football is and we must adapt. He is very happy at Inter and has the shirt on his skin of him.”

However, despite that, there is still a possibility that he, or Skriniar, could leave the club this summer. Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta told Radio RAI, via Fabrizio Romano: “It’s certainly easier to replace a centre back than a striker… probably we will be forced to sell someone in that position."

With the pair previously playing under Conte at the San Siro and in his system, they could fit in perfectly with what he is trying to build in north London. Whether either will make the move remains to be seen, especially with other sides interested in them too.
