Tottenham fans clear on who should be next boss as Daniel Levy considers four candidates

Tottenham fans sent a message to Daniel Levy by repeatedly singing the name of former boss Mauricio Pochettino during Monday night's Premier League match at Everton.

Spurs parted company with former head coach Antonio Conte last week and are currently mulling over who to appoint as the Italian's successor, with the appointment of a permanent coach expected to be confirmed in the summer.

A host of candidates, including Pochettino, have been linked with the role over the past few days. And while Levy has afforded himself some breathing space by handing Conte's former assistant, Cristian Stellini, the reins until the end of the season, fans have made it clear that they want Pochettino to be brought back for a second spell at the club.

Fans made a similar move towards the end of Conte's tenure, when they sang Pochettino's name both during and after the meek 0-0 draw against AC Milan which condemned Spurs to an early exit from the Champions League.

Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann have also been touted for the Tottenham job and are believed to be of interest to Levy and the club hierarchy, while Roberto De Zerbi has won plenty of plaudits for the work he has done at Brighton since succeeding Graham Potter.

Intriguingly, Potter himself could also feature on Spurs' shortlist when he decides he is ready to make a return to the dugout after he was brutally sacked by Chelsea on Sunday evening; although the Blues have also been tipped to sound out Pochettino's representatives for talks over the Stamford Bridge vacancy.

Despite his departure in 2019, Pochettino is still a firm favourite with the club's fans and would be welcomed back for a second stint. He has been unattached since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.

Tottenham's decision to allow Stellini to see out the season after parting company with Conte has been criticised in some quarters due to the Italian's close association with his predecessor, with Jamie Carragher even dubbing him as "Conte lite" on Sky Sports prior to Monday's match against Everton.

But Stellini has stressed that he can provide some stability for Spurs, who are still firmly in the mix for another top-four finish. And he insisted that his relationship with Conte is still "good" after he decided to step in until the club are in a position to source a permanent replacement.

"I want to clarify that the decision was taken for the best of the club and for everyone," Stellini told reporters earlier this week. "Antonio is good.

"Everyone took the decision altogether for the best of the club. My relationship with Antonio is still the same, very close and nothing changed between us. I have to say thank you because I have improved a lot in my career under him and it's because of him. I do the best for him before and I do the best for him until the end of the season."
