Tottenham eye Nicolo Zaniolo swap as James Maddison alternative amid Fabio Paritici 'meeting'

Tottenham are eyeing a potential swap deal for AS Roma attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports. It comes as Antonio Conte continues to strengthen his squad after an already busy few weeks in the transfer market.

Six new players have made their way to north London for the upcoming campaign, with the Italian head coach receiving the backing he wanted after an unlikely top four finish last season. Roughly £90million has been spent so far, bringing in Fraser Forster; Ivan Perisic; Yves Bissouma; Richarlison; Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence.

Despite the numerous transfers completed, the business may not stop there for Spurs in the current window. football.london understands Conte wants to add one or two more new players to his squad before next season, keeping the possibility of further additions firmly open.

There are suggestions that one area for improvement is that of a creative midfield option. Christian Eriksen was linked with a return, but opted for Manchester United on a free transfer instead.

Another player linked has been that of Leicester City's James Maddison, who had an impressive campaign in the Premier League last time out. However, another option could be on the cards for this summer.

According to Roma Giallorossa, Fabio Paratici is set for talks with AS Roma over potential deals, with one player linked being Nicolo Zaniolo. The 23-year-old can play out wide and in the centre, offering versatility and with just two-years remaining on his deal, he could be a cheaper purchase.

The report states that a swap deal could be on the table, with Tanguy Ndombele moving the other way. The Frenchman would reunite with former manager Jose Mourinho, having struggled to break into the side under Conte.

With plenty of business left, Spurs could be set to strengthen even further in the window as they look to push further next season.
