Tottenham dealt Son Heung-Min injury scare ahead of Leeds United clash as attacking issues mount

Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-Min has seen his World Cup thrown into doubt after being forced off in the Champions League clash with Marseille. The South Korean international fractured an area around his left eye after a coming together with Chancel Mbemba.

Son will now undertake surgery in an attempt to stabilise the area and could well miss the World Cup in Qatar. It'll come as a bitter blow for the captain of South Korea.

It also means the Spurs' forward is likely to miss the clash with Leeds United in just under two weeks time. Jesse Marsch's side are set to travel to London to face Antonio Conte's men in the final Premier League fixture before the winter break.

A club statement read: "We can confirm that Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery to stabilise a fracture around his left eye. The South Korea international suffered the injury during the first half of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League victory at Olympique Marseille.

"Following surgery, Son will commence rehabilitation with our medical staff and we shall update supporters further in due course."

As well as Son being a doubt to face Leeds, fellow attackers Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski are also currently sidelined, while Harry Kane must get through the Liverpool match this weekend without being booked in order to avoid a suspension.
