Tottenham have confirmed the departure of full-back Marcel Lavinier on transfer deadline day. The ex-Chelsea youngster has left N17 following the conclusion of his contract and has signed for League Two side Swindon Town.
Joining Tottenham's academy in 2020 after his exit from Chelsea, the 21-year-old made 43 appearances for the development squad over the past two seasons. The highlight of his Tottenham career undoubtedly came in February 2021 when he was handed his Spurs first-team bow by manager Jose Mourinho.
Facing Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League Round of 32, Lavinier played the final 16 minutes of the second leg as he replaced Matt Doherty at right-back. That was to be his solitary appearance in the Tottenham first team, although the player was given a chance on the bench by Antonio Conte back in April in the 1-0 home defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Putting pen-to-paper on a deal with Swindon, the youngster has opened up on his switch to Scott Lindsey's team.
"I’m absolutely buzzing to be here and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity. I had a really good chat with the manager upon joining the club and this is a really exciting project to be a part of," he told Swindon's official website.
“I knew as soon as I’d spoken to Scott and his team this was where I wanted to play my football and it’s the ideal place for me to showcase what I can do.”
