Tottenham confirm new arrival as Antonio Conte continues to build in South Korea

Tottenham have officially announced the appointment of Gianni Vio, with the 69-year-old becoming another addition to Antonio Conte's coaching staff. football.london reported at the end of last month that Spurs were in advanced talks with Vio about a move to N17.

Spurs are currently in South Korea, with their pre-season friendly matches set to kick off against Team K League. The Lilywhites have already had a successful transfer window so far, with five incomings and two outgoings. The Italian's wants and needs are being listened to and Spurs are beginning to build the strong squad they need to give themselves the best chance of a successful 2022/23 season.

Conte's impact since his arrival last November has been major. Both on and off the pitch, the 52-year-old has built up relationships with his players and helped them to a fourth place finish in the last campaign.

Conte's coaching staff have also had major influence. They were hugely involved in training and during pre-season sessions at Hotspur Way, before the trip to Korea, and looked to be leading the sessions whilst the boss watched on.

Now Vio has joined the club, Conte will be hoping the 69-year-old can help make an impact. The new arrival has joined the north London club from the Italy national team, where he has been for the last couple of years.

Before that, the set-piece coach spent time at Fiorentina, AC Milan, Palermo, DC United, Brentford and Leeds. Vio has already shown his impact with Roberto Mancini's side, with their set-pieces becoming a strength in their successful Euro 2020 campaign.

The 69-year-old has reportedly designed 4,830 different routines and the Italian side were able to take full advantage of this. This appointment of Vio will only come as an added boost for Conte's side.

Many fans have been disappointed with Spurs' lack of success from set pieces for some time. The Italian has not only improved individual players and results, he is clearly wanting to target issues that he can solve and make his side even better.

Vio works on individual players strengths, to adapt his methods to suit all. "You need to analyse the players you have and find solutions tailor-made to their skillset," he previously said.

The new arrival may not be an addition to Conte's squad on the pitch, but everyone will be hoping he can make the required impact off it.
