Tottenham confirm Joe Rodon signing as Swansea defender completes £11m transfer

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Swansea City defender Joe Rodon in a domestic deadline day transfer deal.

Standard Sport understands that the Championship side have been holding out for up to £15million for the Wales international after manager Steve Cooper made it clear the Swans would not budge on price.

However, negotiations continued up to the wire on Friday before the two clubs finally found an agreement, with Spurs paying £11million up front before add-ons.

Rodon, who faced England in a friendly at Wembley last week, had been a target for London rivals West Ham, who were put off by the price allowing Spurs to swoop.

The deal comes after Jose Mourinho hailed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for his work in the transfer market.

"What they did for the team was amazing," said Mourinho.

"In such a difficult period where I always believed we were not able to reach some of the targets, some of the needs, the club made an incredible effort.

"Mr Levy showed once more that when he wants and when he is really involved he is a genius in the way he makes deals happen."
