Antonio Conte has confirmed that surgery has "gone well" and he is "already feeling better" after an operation to remove his gallbladder. On Wednesday morning it was confirmed by Tottenham that the head coach would undergo surgery following a diagnosis of cholecystitis.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain. Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today (Wednesday) and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the Club wishes him well."
After undergoing surgery on Wednesday, Conte left a message on his Instagram Stories and updated everyone on how his operation went.

"Thank you for your lovely messages, my surgery has gone well and I'm already feeling better," wrote the Spurs head coach. "Now's time to recover, I can't wait to get back on the field with the team."
Tottenham have not put an exact timeframe on when he will return but the Italian will be forced to take a break from his managerial commitments until he has fully recovered from surgery. According to NHS guidance, it takes a minimum of two weeks to return to normal activities after gallbladder removal surgery.
The Lilywhites face a hectic month with Premier League and Champions League football on the agenda. Hosting Man City this weekend, the Lilywhites then have back-to-back away games at Leicester City and AC Milan before finishing February at home to West Ham and Chelsea.
Taking on Pep Guardiola's Man City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, the club have yet to announce who will take charge of the first team. However, it is likely that assistant head coach Cristian Stellini will step up once again and take the reins while his fellow countryman recovers from surgery.
