Here is your Tottenham morning digest on Friday, February 4.
Spurs backed to finish above Arsenal
Former Premier League striker, turned pundit, Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed Tottenham to finish above Arsenal thanks to the deadline day signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
“The manager Conte will know the players from his time at Inter Milan and will know what they are capable of. For me, it’s definitely good business," he said in an interview with Football Insider.
“At least Spurs have brought in some players. Arsenal have let so many players go and not brought in anybody. Spurs have let players go but brought some in.
“Spurs have had a better window than Arsenal and I’d back Spurs to finish ahead of Arsenal now.”
Rodrigo Bentancur makes promise to Spurs fans
January deadline day signing Bentancur has promised to bring tactical intelligence to Tottenham's side following his deadline day move from Juventus.
“I would say I’m a very tactical player who covers free spaces, does well when winning the ball back and moves it forward quickly," he said in an interview with the club's official website.
“I also think I have scope to improve even more and I can do so as part of this team at Spurs. I am looking forward to learning from Antonio Conte – I think he’s a great coach, he wants to win and gets 150 per cent out of his players.
"I think he’ll make me improve even more, both mentally and as a player. I like that, and it’s a big motivation for me.”
Steve Hitchen's farewell
It was announced on Wednesday night that Tottenham recruitment maestro Steve Hitchen would be leaving the club.
And football.london has learned that Hitchen sent a heartfelt e-Mail to staff at the club after his five years with Spurs, explaining the reason for his departure.
He thanked chairman Daniel Levy and praised those he had worked with at the club for keeping going through plenty of highs and lows in north London.
Everton and Newcastle are both reported to be considering a move for the figure as they both look for new directors of football, but where Hitchen goes next remains to be seen for now.
