Tottenham have appointed Scott Munn as their new chief football officer.
Spurs confirmed on Friday that Munn would take charge of all footballing departments and be handed a place on the club’s board, following a six-month internal review into all their football activities.
Munn has been serving as City Football Group China CEO since 2019 and formerly worked for nine years as CEO for A-League side Melbourne City FC in Australia, where he also had roles on the Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and with both the National Rugby League (NRL) and Australia Football League (AFL).
On his appointment, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “Scott has a unique and broad experience of running sporting organisations at the highest level and will take responsibility for the leadership and management of our football activities to instil best practice both on and off the pitch.”
The Athletic report that Munn’s appointment is not related to the ongoing situation regarding Fabio Paratici.
Paratici stepped back from his role as Tottenham’s managing director of football last week and took an immediate leave of absence pending the appeal of his 30-month ban from Italian football that was subsequently extended worldwide by Fifa for his role in alleged financial mispractice at Juventus.
If Paratici returns, he is expected to report to the newly-hired Munn, who is taking on his first job in Europe.
