Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou provides fresh Cristian Romero injury update before Fulham clash

Tottenham look set to be without Cristian Romero again for their clash with Fulham.

Romero has missed the last four Spurs games with toe and hamstring problems.

The centre-back was forced off the wins over Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and Aston Villa before the recent international break, and then came off at half-time for Argentina against Paraguay before missing their game against Peru.

He was then absent for last weekend’s 4-0 win at Manchester City and Thursday’s 2-2 draw with Roma in the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou said earlier this week that Romero is nearly over his toe and hamstring injuries.

But, speaking on Friday morning before Spurs were due to train, Postecoglou said Romero is “unlikely” to face Fulham.

Postecoglou said: ”Last night [after Roma], at this stage a clean bill of health.

“Mind you I thought that last week and we had a surgery [Guglielmo Vicario]. Romero unlikely but I’m not ruling him out.

“He's got to get through a few things today and then there's a session tomorrow.”

Spurs are still without fellow centre-back Micky van de Ven, who is back in training following a recent hamstring injury but will not be rushed back into action.

It means Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies are set to continue at centre-back against Fulham on Sunday, when Spurs will look to follow up their thumping win at the Etihad Stadium.
