Tottenham and Liverpool handed Manuel Ugarte transfer timeline as agent teases next move

Tottenham face a huge few months ahead as the direction of the club could change dramatically depending on decisions made. Chairman Daniel Levy is tasked with appointing a new head coach and a director of football, following a whole host of changes in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte's tenure was brought to an early end, with a short spell under Cristian Stellini then leading to Ryan Mason being in interim charge until the end of the campaign. Behind the scenes, Fabio Paratici left his role, leaving Spurs short in departments that are required for the long-term planning.

Once those positions are eventually filled, the next task will be equipping the next coach with the squad available to challenge once again. A whole host of players have been linked with a switch, with one of those being Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who has impressed for the Portuguese side.

Spurs aren't alone in their admiration though as Liverpool are also reported to have been showing interest, with their need for a midfield rework in the coming months. Ugarte's agent, Jorge Chijane, has hardly extinguished any discussions surrounding a move either, claiming something will be sorted in the next 15 days.

He said, as quoted by the Mirror: "Liverpool? There is a lot of talk, but they are not the only club, there are others. There is a lot of talk, but I am still not sure about the club [he will sign with]. There are many possibilities on the table. I believe that in 15 days the situation will be resolved. It's almost certain that he won't stay [at Sporting], it's sure he'll leave. Soon I'll be [with him] in Lisbon."

It remains to be seen whether the combative midfielder will make the move to Spurs this summer, but it appears that a deal somewhere is on the horizon.
