Total Solar Eclipse in the U.S.: Five Rooftop Watch Parties to Experience It

Total Solar Eclipse in the U.S.: Watch Parties and Exclusive Experiences to Enjoy It (Credit: Frost Science)

While many are preparing their special glasses to enjoy the total solar eclipse outdoors on April 8, there are also numerous other creative and fancy options to take part in the astronomical show, including watch parties all across the country.

The event, which will be visible for approximately four minutes, is a rare and highly anticipated landmark for astronomy enthusiasts as it marks the final total solar eclipse visible from the United States until 2044. People from all over the country have booked flights or are getting ready to travel and experience it, contributing to what is expected to be a touristic boom.

The agency has predicted that the path of totality -referring to locations where individuals will experience complete blockage of the sun- will include Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, as well as small parts of Tennessee and Michigan.

Several museums, restaurants, and tour companies across the country will be hosting 'watch parties' and providing solar glasses for customers to enjoy this phenomenon.

Among the most creative options, amusement park Six Flags Over Texas will hold a Solar Coaster viewing event, in which visitors will be able to enjoy a limited selection of rides before and after watching the eclipse, while Delta Air Lines is offering a Path-of-Totality Flight to watch the event from the sky.

However, one of the most exclusive and probably romantic places to experience the total solar eclipse from cities are going to be tall buildings. Here are five highlighted rooftop watch parties options to enjoy the show.
