A Tory MP has been suspended by the Conservatives while under investigation for allegedly watching pornography in the Commons chamber.
Neil Parish had the Conservative whip withdrawn on Friday pending the result of the investigation after a conversation with Tory Chief Whip Chris Heaton-Harris.
An investigation by the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) was launched after the allegations surfaced during a meeting of Tory MPs on Tuesday.
Parish, the chair of the Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, has represented the Devon constituency since 2019.
A spokeswoman for Heaton-Harris said: “Having spoken to the Chief Whip this afternoon, Neil Parish MP is reporting himself to the Standards Committee of the House of Commons.
“Mr Parish has been suspended from the Conservative whip pending the outcome of that investigation.”
Labour said the Tories had known about Neil Parish’s alleged conduct for days but had done nothing about it.
Shadow leader of the House Thangam Debbonaire said: "The Conservatives knew for days about the disgusting behaviour of one of their MPs and tried to cover it up.
"From the Owen Paterson scandal to their failure to act against their paedophile MP Imran Ahmad Khan, this is a Government rotting from the head down. Britain deserves better."
The Liberal Democrats have called on Boris Johnson to demand the resignation of Parish.
Deputy leader Daisy Cooper said: "If Boris Johnson had any shred of decency left, he would tell Neil Parish to resign immediately.
"In any other workplace this would count as gross misconduct and the person responsible would lose their job. Parliament should be no different.
"We don’t need to insult the women MPs who witnessed this with a lengthy investigation. All his bosses need to do is ask for his devices and look at his viewing history, this isn’t rocket science."
It came after mounting pressure on Boris Johnson to act over the MP after it was revealed two female Tories had accused him of watching porn on his phone in the Commons.
Caroline Nokes, chair of the women and equalities committee, had piled pressure on the Chief Whip saying the MP should have “immediately” had the whip withdrawn. Labour’s Keir Starmer added Tory chiefs should “take action now”.
Senior Tories have already called for the MP who watched porn to quit Parliament completely - or be booted out - if the allegations are proven.
Attorney General Suella Braverman said if the MP did watch adult material they should "no longer holding their privileged position as an MP.”
The minister told BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour "I'm ashamed this person is carrying a Conservative rosette" - and if proven, the MP could be expelled or subjected to a recall process.
