Tory MP arrested on suspicion of rape granted bail for fourth time

A TORY MP arrested over allegations of rape has been bailed until mid-May, Police confirmed on Monday.

The Conservative, who is unable to be named for legal reasons, was first arrested in May last year on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office.

This is the fourth time their bail has been extended since the arrest.

The Metropolitan Police first received the original complaint more than three years ago in January 2020.

In a statement, the force added: “The offences are alleged to have occurred in London.

“An investigation is ongoing, led by officers from Central Specialist Crime. A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office.

“He was taken into custody and has since been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-May 2023.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
