Tory minister Michael Gove spotted 'having a wee boogie' at Aberdeen nightclub again

Michael Gove has been spotted showing off his dance moves in Aberdeen again – less than two years after he was filmed raving in the Granite City on a night out.

The Aberdonian native, who serves as MP for Surrey Heath and the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, was spotted in Club Tropicana on Saturday February 18, reports Aberdeen Live. A photo of the top-flight Tory was shared on social media by club boss Tony Cochrane, who wrote on Facebook: "Michael Gove having [a] wee boogie at Club Tropicana & Venga Aberdeen tonight."

Dressed in a blue collared shirt and a dark jacket, Gove posed for nightlife photographer Rebecca Mcgregor with a fellow punter, who was holding two bottles of beer. Mr Cochrane told the Record that the Tory's patronage was always welcome – as was that of any politician.

He said: "I've been told he was nice to everyone who spoke to him or got photos. Any politician is welcome anytime, they're only human and enjoying their time off.

"Maybe Nicola would consider having her leaving party at Edinburgh or Glasgow Tropicana. I would love to have her along."

It's not the first time that Gove has been seen enjoying the nightlife in his hometown.

In August 2021, a clip of Gove dancing the night away in Bohemia nightclub went viral, weeks after he and Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine announced they were to divorce. Video published by the Record at the time showed the 55-year-old two-stepping, arm waving, hip jolting and head banging with fellow ravers.

He reportedly proved popular with other patrons, who are said to have bought the top-earning politician drinks all night. However, later reports suggested Gove tried to dodge paying the £5 entry fee.

He was then spotted hitting the tiles at the Conservative Party conference weeks later, before raving in Ibiza last summer. But his antics have received a mixed reaction from locals and political opponents.

Aberdeen Labour councillor Deena Tiserra said: "It's always good to see a UK Government minister helping the economy of Aberdeen by enjoying the city's nightlife.

"It's interesting Mr Gove chose to dance the night away in Club Tropicana – which specialises in 80s music – given he is doing his level best to return the UK economy back to the 80s where interest rates, inflation and unemployment were at record high levels.

"At least Mr Gove can afford a night out amid the current cost of living crisis."
