Tonight's leadership debate to determine the next leader of the Conservative party has been forced to stop.
Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak were going head to head in the televised debate when a loud noise in the studio halted proceedings. It has now been confirmed that presenter Kate McCann fainted and collapsed.
TalkTv tweeted after the incident that Kate McCann fainted on air and although she is fine, the medical advice was that we shouldn't continue with the debate.
Journalists at the event were told there had been a medical issue not a security alert, and the debate would go back on air if possible.
A Sun spokeswoman said the debate was paused because of a medical issue.
“There was a medical issue, we hope to be back on air soon,” she said.
