A man has been charged with torture and grievous bodily harm of three children after a young boy was found with critical injuries southeast of Brisbane.

Emergency services discovered the seriously injured five-year-old boy when called to a home at Wishart around 9.30pm on Saturday.

The boy was transported in critical condition to the Queensland Children's Hospital.

Two other injured children, a girl, six, and a boy, eight, were discovered in the garage of the property.

Both children were taken to the hospital with extensive, but not life-threatening, injuries, police said.

A 29-year-old man faces domestic violence-related charges, including multiple counts of torture and assault.

The man, known to the children, is expected to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
