THE Tories are on course to be humiliated at the next election according to a new poll which puts them on course to hold just 90 seats next year.
The study, carried out by pollsters Find Out Now and election experts Electoral Calculus, put Labour on course for an overwhelming landslide of 461 seats.
Vying for third place are the SNP and LibDems, put on course to win 38 seats and 37 seats, respectively.
The SNP have held the third-place position in Westminster since 2015, when the electoral routing of both Scottish Labour and the LibDems saw them become the biggest party after the Government and the official opposition.
Using sophisticated modelling techniques, pollsters were able to convert the voting intentions of more than 11,000 people into seat projections.
If the results were borne out in real life, it would be both the worst ever result for the Conservative Party as well as Labour’s most successful election in history.
Researchers also projected some major names, including the Prime Minister, to be on course to lose their seats, if the results were replicated come the election next year.
This scenario would also see major figures such as Energy Secretary Grant Shapps, Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt, and other Cabinet ministers ousted.
Chris Holbrook, CEO of Find Out Now, said: "Our poll of 11,142 [British] adults demonstrates the scale of the swing from Conservative to Labour, showing the likelihood of a Labour landslide.
“This swing should not overshadow the apparent re-establishment of the Liberal Democrats as a credible third party after nearly a decade in the political wilderness."
Martin Baxter, CEO of Electoral Calculus, said: "With every month that goes by, Labour are edging towards a grudging landslide victory at the next general election.
“Without overmuch enthusiasm, the public look likely to reject the Conservatives and are mostly embracing Labour."
