Tori Spelling gets eye ulcer after wearing contact lenses for 20 days straight

Tori Spelling has revealed she suffered an eye ulcer after she failed to keep up with her contact lens habits, having even slept in them.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 star admitted she developed an ulcer in her left eye after not regularly removing and changing her contacts.

Her neglectful ways led to the infection as she revealed: “It’s my fault. I did this to myself."

Tori, 49, has not disclosed how long she had worn the contacts before getting the infection but has once gone "maybe 20 days" without changing them.

“I have contacts but I wear daily ones. So. at the end of the day, whatever, I can make all the excuses I want.

"I don’t take them out. I sleep in them, and it’s not healthy, and you’re supposed to take them out," she admitted on her 9021OMG podcast.

Fans didn't hold back when sharing their thoughts on Tori's habit, with one saying: "They get too dry and foggy for me whenever I have slept in them. How did they not bother you after a few days??"

"I jumped when I heard 20," commented another.

One fan begged: "Please stop! Don't do it anymore!!!"

"Tori!!!!!! 20 days??! bad bad !!!," quipped someone else.

According to the NHS, a corneal ulcer is an open sore on your cornea, the thin clear layer over your iris (the coloured part of your eye).

People who wear contact lenses are more likely to get corneal ulcers. This risk is 10 times higher if you use extended-wear (overnight) soft contacts and bacterial infections are commonly associated with contact lens wear.

Most ulcers are very serious and require immediate attention to reduce the risk of permanent sight loss through scarring, or even potentially the need to have a corneal transplant.

Tori recently rocked a bedazzled eye patch while out on the town, proving the ulcer didn't need to hold her back.

The look did spark concern with fans who questioned what was wrong with the mum of five.

“Thx to all the well wishes and concern. Everyone is asking if I scratched my cornea. It’s actually an ulcer on my eye. Antibiotic drops and Dr said it will ‘hopefully’ heal in 7-10 days,” she told her fans.
