The Nepalese canteen Eat Momo is to host a series of “momo parties” with some of London’s brightest young chefs.
Founded by sisters Dipa and Trishna Chamling in Borough Yards last year, Eat Momo will first welcome Hector Henderson, head chef at Rochelle Canteen, to offer his own take on the Nepali dumplings from which the venue takes its name.
Henderson, son of Fergus and Margot, has created a fried momo filled with minced beef and served with horseradish cream, a nostalgic dish to him, which will be served at the first event on January 28.
In February, Caravel co-founder Lorcan Spiteri will arrive. He’ll be cooking momos of cumin lamb alongside coriander chutney.
Rounding off the series in March will be Ana da Costa, who specialises in Macanese, Portuguese, and Chinese fusion cuisine and has crafted a prawn-filled momo with peri-peri lemon sauce.
At each event, Dipa and Trishna will also be serving their signature momos — pork, chicken, and paneer with traditional sauces for dipping — while a wine list has been put together by sommelier Zeren Wilson.
Dipa and Trishna said: “Opening Eat Momo was a tribute to our childhood in Nepal and our passion for bringing the tradition and rituals of momo-making to London.
“It has been so fun to see each chef we admire put their own personality and history into a momo, and there will be no shortage each evening.”
Tickets to each chef event are just £25 and include unlimited momos and a welcome drink. There will be cocktails from Moth and a portion of sales will go to the charity FoodCycle.
