Top Videos: Solar eclipse stuns and Elon Musk’s rocket explodes

This week we were treated to a spectacular eclipse which was witnessed in Western Australia, while Elon Musk’s spaceship exploded.

After 500 days, a woman emerged from a cave to rejoin civilisation, completely oblivious to what had happened in the world while she was in there.

The Royal’s unveiled the “coronation quiche” and a bear made a spectacular catch in a delightful video.

Total eclipse

The solar eclipse on Thursday was the first of five Australia will see in the next 15 years.

Exmouth, in Western Australia, got to see totality while other parts of the country saw a partial eclipse.

The sky during the eclipse

It was such a spectacular event, here’s a second eclipse video.

This incredible video shows off what the sky was like, before, during and after the eclipse, in Exmouth, which had some stunning weather.

Some alone time

In November 2021, before Russia invaded Ukraine and Queen Elizabeth died, Beatriz Flamini went into a cave by herself. Late last week, she emerged after 500 days.

Footage of her emerging went viral this week. Flamini, 50, celebrated two birthdays underground and had no contact with humans, all in the name of science. However, she was disappointed she didn’t get to finish her book.

SpaceX explodes

After a successful lift off, Elon Musk’s SpaceX spacecraft, on an un-manned flight test, exploded about two to three minutes later.

No one was hurt when Space X’s next generation Starship, the biggest rocket ever developed, exploded, or in their words, experienced “a rapid unscheduled disassembly”.

The engineers behind it are still considering it a “win”, the BBC reported.

CEO’s ‘pep talk’

During a video town hall, MillerKnoll CEO, Andi Owen, told her employees to “leave pity city” when questions were raised over whether they would get bonuses.

Instead, she told employees to spend their time and effort focusing on getting more money. Owen reportedly got a $1.2 million bonus last year.

Bear earns his daily bread

The real breadwinner this week was a bear who pulled off an amazing catch when a piece of bread was thrown at it.

The bear looked pretty happy with itself as it devoured the carbs, and then it appeared to wave goodbye at the end of the video.

Slice of the action

Doorbell footage has captured the moment a pizza delivery driver foiled a suspect’s getaway by tripping them up.

In the video shared by the home owner, police are seen pursuing the suspect, who is then tripped up by the delivery person.

Coronation quiche

This week, the Royal Family unveiled the coronation quiche, a dish personally selected by their majesties, King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla.

It was an odd choice given the egg shortage in the UK, but apparently the dish pays homage to the King’s love of anything involving eggs and cheese.

Adam Lambert tackles the Muffin Man

On The Tonight Show, Adam Lambert performed a rendition of The Muffin Man, but to the tune of Cher’s greatest hits.

Somehow, the nursery rhyme sung in the style of “Believe” works very well.

Cheezels for Sheezel

At the AFL’s Gather Round, South Australia’s Premier Peter Malinauskas enjoyed a “Cheezel for Sheezel”.

People loved the video where the Premier did in fact enjoy a Cheezel to honour North Melbourne’s Harry Sheezel, and gave off the impression he was “such a lad”.
