Roach gets red carpet treatment
A cockroach turned heads at the Met Gala when it scurried along the red carpet, where celebrities pose for snaps before entering.
Instead of being squashed, the cockroach was treated like an A-lister, with a photographer getting close for a few photos.

Miracle result from horror accident
A patrol officer in the US was conducting a routine traffic stop when he spotted a car spinning out of control on the other side of the road. The out of control car crashed into the parked vehicle – and almost the officer attempting to get out of the way.
All parties involved suffered minor injuries and the juvenile driver was charged with reckless driving.
Royal run-in on train
Famed train enthusiast and TikTok sensation Francis Bourgeois had to sprint for the train, only to run into Prince William and Princess Kate.
The royals were getting off the train, but greeted Mr Bourgeois, who remarked he hoped they both enjoyed the Elizabeth Line.

There’s a bear in there
A bear hiding in a dumpster gave a school principal the shock of his life.
The West Virginian principal was opening the bin when the bear popped its head out – both ran off in opposite directions.

Rare orca appears
A rare albino orca named Frosty was spotted off the coast of California late last week. Frosty’s pale skin is due to a genetic condition, said Newport Coastal Adventure, the group that spotted the pod.
Taking out the trash
A 5kg bundle of “obsolete hardware” was allowed to drift off into space in a video shared by the International Space Station.
In the video is spacewalker Sergey Prokopyev and the “space trash” that drifts off slowly past him, which will quickly burn off in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Caught in a stretch
Lukwesa Burak signed off for BBC news and had a quick stretch.
She soon realised she was on-air but recovered after a few seconds of silence. Ms Burak embraced the gaffe on social media.

Monash Council has been forced to cancel children’s story-time with drag queens following death threats.
Premier Daniel Andrews addressed the protesters who have been targeting drag queens and said if they want to act like Republicans in the US state of Florida, they should “get to Florida”.

Sandwich thief
A bird stole a man’s sandwich straight from his hands, leaving him looking very disappointed.
The man was sitting by the water when the stealth attack happened. Many felt genuinely sorry for him, while a few questioned whether the video was staged.
