'Top, top signing' - Everton and Manchester United fans react to Donny van de Beek loan deal

Donny van de Beek has agreed to sign for Everton on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

The Dutchman is expected to work under Frank Lampard at Goodison Park given the club are set to name the former Chelsea boss as Rafa Benitez’s successor.

Van de Beek had been linked with a move to the Blues during the summer and has struggled for game time since remaining at Old Trafford.

His incoming arrival at Everton has sparked excitement among the fanbase, as well as hopeful messages from United fans, given his previous pedigree while with Ajax.

The ECHO understands that the deal does not include an option to buy with the Red Devils hoping that a spell with the Blues can kick-start Van De Beek's career in the Premier League.

The Blues have beat competition from Crystal Palace to sign the midfielder - and it's believed that John Heitinga, who used to play for the club, encouraged the 24-year-old to make the move to Merseyside.

Van De Beek signed for United from Ajax in a deal worth £40m in 2020 after forging a considerable reputation across Europe.

Part of the Ajax side that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019, the Holland international is still seen as a player who is yet to reach his full potential in England

The arrival of Bruno Fernandes ultimately stunted Van de Beek’s progression at Old Trafford, where he has made just four league starts in his 18 months at the club.

The playmaker will hope a move to Everton will reignite his career and provide a greater opportunity to showcase his talents in the Premier League.
