Drivers have been urged to take note of new changes to the NCT system ahead of any upcoming tests.
There have been some modifications made to the NCT testing system, beginning this Saturday. Drivers should also note their vehicle will be assessed based on whether it has a working emergency call system, known as E-Call.
However, it's unlikely these changes will have a huge impact on the NCT pass rate if accounted for ahead of time. Carzone have compiled a general checklist for drivers to ensure their vehicle is ready for the rigorous test.

The main advice includes acting on any warning signs ahead of your scheduled appointment. Drivers should be particularly mindful of strange noises from the engine or illuminated lights.
Equally, drivers are encouraged to check fluids and lights ahead of time. An appointment with a local mechanic is a good investment if you suspect there may be issues ahead of the test.
The majority of NCT fails occur due to suspension issues with the car. It's worth keeping an ear out for any grumblings from the engine or gearbox, especially as re-booking can prove difficult. Test dates are difficult to source due to high demand.
NCT staff will also request that wheel nuts are visible for conducting the test. It's best to remove any wheel trims or alloy wheel centre caps if they obscure the view of the bolts.
