Referee John Beaton is believed to be at the centre of a Scottish FA investigation over claims he verbally abused a supporter last season.
The incident is alleged to have taken place when Livingston beat Dundee 2-1 at the Tony Macaroni Arena on May 15, the final day of last season's Premiership campaign.
Beaton, from Wishaw, who is to take charge of Motherwell's opener at St Mirren on Sunday, is reported by the Scottish Daily Express to have made some "unsavoury comments" to a supporter, and they say compliance officer Andrew Phillips has been asked to investigate the claim.
