Celebrities often venture into the hospitality industry, with many stars investing in pubs, bars and restaurants. Many are silent partners, but others, such as former supermodel Jodie Kidd, take an active role in the running of their business.
New research from UK based retailer Coffee Friend looked at ratings and reviews from visitors on Tripadvisor to work out an overall excellence percentage to discover the top eight celebrity-owned venues throughout the nation. These popular establishments came out ahead of places backed by David Beckham, Ed Sheeran and Sir Ian McKellen.
Top rated establishment was five-star The Cromlix Hotel, located in Kinbuck, Scotland, owned by tennis legend Sir Andy Murray. It is situated close to his hometown of Dunblane, and he married his wife Kim Sears at the hotel in 2015.
It topped the list with a rating of 4.5 and an excellence percentage of 79 per cent. Coming in a close second was Guy Ritchie, with the film producer's Lore of the Land pub, found in Fitzrovia, London, achieving an impressive excellence percentage of 78 per cent.
Singer James Blunt’s Chelsea-based pub The Fox and Pheasant placed third (70 per cent), with footballer Gareth Bale’s Elevens Bar and Grill in Cardiff (64 per cent) and Jodie Kidd’s West Sussex country pub, The Half Moon (59 per cent) also featuring in the top eight.
Aurimas Vainauskas, chief executive of Coffee Friend, said: “The team at Coffee Friend has done the research and whittled down the celebrity-owned pubs, restaurants and bars with star power. Make like Andy Murray and enjoy a stay at his five-star hotel in Kinbuck or head to The Fox and Pheasant in Chelsea for a pint supplied by none other than singer James Blunt - whether it’s a drink or two you’re after or a sit down dinner, these celebrity spots won’t leave you disappointed.”
