With little time before kickoff, the San Francisco 49ers were dealt the news that All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey would be inactive for Monday Night Football against the New York Jets due to an ankle/Achilles injury.
Despite missing one of their key pieces, Kyle Shanahna’s offense didn’t miss a beat, thanks to the help of Jordan Mason.
The undrafted running back burst onto the scene on Monday, punishing the Jets with a flurry of tough and thundering runs down the gut of Robert Salah’s defense.
Mason fueled the 49ers offense with a career-high 147 yards on 28 carries. Mason added to his impressive performance with a touchdown score. Behind Mason’s breakout effort, the 49ers cruised to a 32-19 win to open the season against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
Here’s a look at some of the top photos from Mason’s career-high performance during the 49ers win over the Jets on Monday night in Santa Clara.
