Top pass rusher seeking trade; Cardinals could target at high price

The Arizona Cardinals need an impact pass rusher. There is perhaps the opportunity to acquire one via trade. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, a four-time first-team All-Pro and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year winner, announced he has requested a trade.

He announced it via social media in a statement.

He wants to be on a team that can potentially win championships now.

Garrett has never led the NFL in sacks in his career but has had 102.5 for his career in eight seasons. He has had seen consecutive seasons with at least 10 sacks and has had no fewer than 14 in the last four seasons. He had 14 sacks and a league-high 22 tackles for loss in 2024.

He just turned 29 years old and has two years remaining on his contract, although there is no guaranteed money remaining.

The Browns are not eager to move him and have set the price tag quite high.

Browns GM Andrew Berry said on the record that he isn’t interested in trading Garrett, even for two first-round draft picks.

Going for Garrett would be an all-in sort of move for the Cardinals, pushing hard for Super Bowl contention after going 8-9 and missing the postseason.

Will they make a call? Will the Browns budge? It makes for an interesting time in the NFL offseason.
