A brand new street food and craft beer spot will open in Leeds as two beloved businesses join forces.
Restaurant Dastaan, based in Otley Road, Adel, and Kirkstall Brewery will be bringing a "modern infusion" of new dishes inspired by traditional Indian cuisine as well as IPA flavours. The new restaurant and bar set to open has a working name of Karobar - meaning business in Hindi. The venue is set to open this summer and is currently under refurbishment.
The new spot will be opening in former cocktail bar Banyan in New Road, after it closed in April. The stylish Horsforth venue was widely popular, and inundated with good reviews, but will sadly not reopen its doors again.

Earlier this year Dastaan was named one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK. In 2022, the eatery was named the number one restaurant in Leeds on TripAdvisor, and has been inundated with five star reviews. Kirkstall Brewery announced that they "believe in tradition, authenticity and innovation and this is an opportunity to show us what we can do" as the team collaborate with Dastaan.
At the beer and street food menu tasting event the restaurant served Indian classic pani puri, filled with chickpeas alongside extra pale ale, Three Swords, as well as potato tornado chaat and Virtuous beer. There was also assorted pao sliders with potato, fish and chicken options.
The lamb seekh kebab and tandoori soya chops were accompanied with the brewery’s Belgian Blond and Mango IPA and Spokane concluded the night alongside fresh tacos with jackfruit, paneer and pork fillings. The new venue, Karobar, promises to have something for everyone and will not only serve beers but also cocktails made with Indian spices and wines.
Further updates on an official opening date will be confirmed at a later date.
