Top Edinburgh chef brings sell-out seafood pop-up Barry Fish back to Leith

A top Edinburgh chef has just announced the return of his hugely popular seafood pop-up to Leith.

Barry Bryson, the winner of the Chef of the Year 2021 award at the Scottish Excellence Awards, is bringing the Barry Fish pop-up back for several dates over July.

A play on the Edinburgh word for "anything that's really good" as well as his name, last year's Barry Fish pop-up was a huge success, selling out and garnering overwhelming praise.

Announcing the news on his Instagram page, Barry said: "Barry Fish is (almost) back and where it belongs in Leith! Join me at the brilliant Mistral Leith, my friends and neighbours."

Taking place at the exciting wine bar on Bonnington Road, the exclusive gourmet pop-up will run on July 5, July 12, and July 19 (all Wednesdays) for the summer dinner menu, as well as July 9 and July 16 for daytime and early evening Sunday service.

With strictly limited entry, anyone eager to visit the spot can contact the Mistral team via the email – info@mistral-leith.co.uk – with your preferred time and they will get back to you (within 24 hours).

Even though not much is known about the upcoming Barry Fish pop-up yet, the chef has a reputation for delivering outstanding quality food and is well known in Scotland - and beyond the UK - for his talent.

Barry confirmed that Mistral will offer some incredible wines, cocktails and tunes, while he serves up some "Barry Fish favourites", as well as an oyster menu and some new dishes that they are working on.

The enormously talented chef has revealed to Edinburgh Live that the menu will be filled with exciting small plates including the likes of lobster thermidor tart, octopus souvlaki and crispy cod cheeks, showcasing the very best produce and fare available from around Scotland.
