Top Boy cast: Netflix releases exciting new teasers ahead of reboot

Netflix has revealed a range of first look images ahead of Top Boy‘s long-awaited return.

The highly-anticipated reboot of the London crime drama will land on Netflix this autumn, with the new photos showing returning characters and some of the new faces to be introduced in forthcoming episodes.

Top Boy was dropped by Channel 4 five years ago and is now being revived for a new series after rapper Drake bought the rights to the show.

Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson are set to return as drug dealers Dushane and Sully respectively, while other previously confirmed cast members include David Omoregie aka rapper Dave, Michael Ward, Simbi ‘Little Simz’ Ajikawo and Shone Romulus.

New cast members include Lisa Dwan from Trust and Jasmine Jobson from Lie Low and Obey.

Sex Education actor Kadeem Ramsay also stars alongside Saffron Hocking from White Gold, Kola Bokinni from Black Mirror and newcomer Hope Ikpoku.

The new episodes begin as Dushane returns to London after being in exile to team up with Sully to reclaim his place at the top of the city’s drug market.

Upon their reunion, Dushane and Sully are confronted by Michael, an ambitious, young gang leader who wants to take their place.

Netflix reveals: “He teams up with Sully (Kane Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end.

“Awaiting them both is Jamie (Micheal Ward), the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.”

The first series was broadcast in the UK in 2011 with the second in 2013, and both seasons are now available to watch globally on Netflix.

The first and second series were just four episodes long, but this time the third season will comprise of 10 instalments.

The next season is created and written by Ronan Bennett with directors Reinaldo Marcus Green (Monsters and Men), Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Little Woods), Aneil Karia (Pure) and Brady Hood (Endeavour) all on board for the job.

Top Boy starts on Netflix this autumn.
