Summer is falling into autumn on the calendar. While it might not feel like it in many places, the autumnal equinox will take place early Saturday morning.
That means summer football is over for the vast majority of college teams and 2024 NFL draft prospects. It’s a good time to take stock and re-rank the top 50 prospects on the overall 2024 big board.
These rankings are based on current observational grades and do not necessarily reflect the order in which they will be taken. That’s what mock drafts are for…
1. Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
Harrison Jr. has been unstoppable this season: 14 catches, 307 yards, 3 TDs despite uneven QB play.
2. Jer'Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois
“Johnny” Newton has been a dominant interior presence, building off an already impressive baseline entering the season. Strong shades of Gerald McCoy.
3. Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Williams continues to make eye-popping plays with both his arm and his legs
4. Drake Maye, QB, Norths Carolina
Maye has shown great accuracy and playmaking but also a frustrating propensity for poor decisions with the ball.
5. Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
Alt’s movement ability and functional strength for a player with his length are outstanding.
6. Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
The Michigan State transfer has elevated his game, emerging as a major playmaking force with outstanding competitiveness.
7. Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
Latu is a very accomplished, versatile pass rusher with ever-improving strength. Medical evaluations are going to be huge for Latu, who medically retired from Washington with a neck injury in 2020.
8. Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State
Verse shines with his explosiveness off the edge and his closing speed to the point of attack.
9. Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
The athletic traits for the position are outstanding with Bowers, and the Bulldogs continue to find ways to get the ball in his hands beyond traditional TE usage.
10. Rome Oduzne, WR, Washington
Odunze continues to show he’s more than just a big-bodied target. Echoes of Keenan Allen at Cal to his ever-expanding game.
