Top 5 Newcomers With Most Goals: Real Madrid Ace Mbappe Stars

Many high-profile moves materialized over the 2024-25 summer transfer window. Among them, Real Madrid finally got their hands on long-time target, Kylian Mbappe. Atletico Madrid shook the world by prizing Julian Alvarez away from Manchester City. Dominic Solanke moved from Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspur in a massive £55 million (plus add-ons) move, becoming the most expensive transfer in the Premier League.

As 2024 draws to a close, we have decided to take a look at some newcomers who have settled in nicely at their new homes. Continue reading to meet the top five new signings who have scored the most goals in the 2024-25 season.

#5 Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid): 12 Goals

Atletico Madrid splurged a whopping £64 million plus add-ons to sign Julian Alvarez from Premier League champions Manchester City. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner had a difficult start, but he has since found his footing, emerging as one of the most prolific newcomers in Europe. The 24-year-old has played 26 games for Los Rojiblancos in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and claiming two assists. The Argentine’s five goals in La Liga have helped Atletico climb to the top of the rankings.

Alvarez has scored one brace for Atletico so far. His double came in Los Colchoneros’ 6-0 win over Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League on November 26.

#4 Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund): 12 Goals

After making headlines at VfB Stuttgart last season, Serhou Guirassy made the jump to Borussia Dortmund in July 2024. The Yellow and Black had to pay just €18 million (£14.9 million) to prize the 28-year-old away from Stuttgart.

Guirassy has proven to be an instant hit at Borussia Dortmund. Playing 19 games in all competitions, he has scored 12 goals and provided four assists. His best performance came against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on December 11. He more than held up his end of the bargain by scoring an excellent brace but Dortmund still succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.

#3 Moise Kean (Fiorentina): 14 Goals

Fiorentina shelled out €13 million to sign Italian centre-forward from arch-rivals Juventus in July 2024. Kean has settled in nicely at Fiorentina, finding the back of the net 14 times in 21 matches across competitions. The 24-year-old has also provided an assist for La Viola. With 10 goals to his name in 16 outings, Kean is the third-leading scorer in Serie A this season.

Kean was at his prolific best in Fiorentina’s clash with Serie A opponents Hellas Verona on 10th November. He scored all three goals as Fiorentina claimed a 3-1 win over Verona.

#2 Mateo Retegui (Atalanta): 14 Goals

Serie A side Atalanta paid a mere €22 million (£18.3 million) to sign Mateo Retegui from Genoa. The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for La Dea, scoring 14 goals and claiming four assists in 25 appearances in all competitions. He has scored a league-best 12 goals in 17 Serie A games, helping Atalanta to the top of the league rankings.

Coincidentally, Retegui delivered his finest performance for Atalanta against his former team Genoa. The Italy international scored a hat-trick and provided an assist to help Atalanta to a 5-1 victory over Genoa on Matchday 7.

Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid in a highly anticipated move in the summer of 2024. One of the best players in the world, Mbappe joined Los Blancos as a free agent after running down his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Everyone expected the Frenchman to hit the ground running in the Spanish capital, but that has not been the case. He has had some lean periods, failing to score in consecutive games. But even at 50%, Mbappe has outperformed the newcomers in Europe, scoring 14 goals in 24 matches across competitions. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, who has also provided four assists, has already won two trophies with his new employers — UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup — scored two goals.

Mbappe delivered his most prolific performance against Real Betis in Gameweek 4 of La Liga. He scored a brace to secure a 2-0 win for Los Blancos.
