Top 10 Paris fashion shows

Paris Fashion top 10: Dries van Noten tops
1. Dries van Noten
Dries took us on a world tour fusing tribal and print influences from around the globe. Our favourite was an eclectic printed top adorned with jewels

Paris Fashion top 10: Deacon invite
2. Giles Deacon
Giles never disappoints, we love his sense of humour, childish as we are. This season the fun-loving designer's show invitations were made of inflatable dinosaurs

Paris fashion top 10: Norma Desmond’s come back wardrobe
3. Norma Desmond’s comeback wardrobe
This show was every stylist's dream: how we would love to rummage through Galliano's dressing-up box. We adored the magical smoke-filled bubbles falling from the rafters which gently burst as the models strode through them

Paris Fashion top 10: Alexander McQueen fashion show
4. Alexander McQueen
McQueen always manages to deliver a fashion moment. We felt like extras from “War of the Worlds” as robot cameras caught the show from every angle, streaming it live on the internet

Paris top ten: Lily Allen at Chanel and a model dances at Sonia Rykiel
5. Mixing the arts
Chanel and Sonia Rykiel got their money's worth out of their models: a runway show with a dance class thrown in ... do we see Strictly Come Modelling on the horizon?

Paris fashion top 10: Nicholas Gesquhiere boots
6. Nicolas Ghesquiere
The Balenciaga designer’s fabric innovation wowed us at the show. We are now lusting after these compressed leather shoe-boots

Paris fashion top 10: Phoebe Philo show
7. Phoebe Philo
All eyes were on Chloe's former head designer for her first runway collection at Celine and she did not disappoint. She delivered a slick, grown-up collection that every woman in the room wanted to wear

Paris fashion top 10: Miu Miu show
8. Miu Miu
One of the hottest shows in Paris (quite literally). While the audience melted under the heat, the models at Miu Miu coolly sashayed from salon to salon in a collection that Miuccia Prada said, “questioned innocence and youth”. We only questioned the lack of air con

Paris top ten: Louis Vuitton and Comme des Garcons
9. Louis Vuitton and Comme des Garcons
These two labels really have a sense of humour. We love the Afro Ken inspired hair and layered styling at Louis Vuitton. Meanwhile, at Comme, Rei Kawakubo did a conceptual tongue-in-cheek rework of this season's ubiquitous power shoulder with shoulder pads morphing out of garments in unusual places

Paris fashion top 10: Stella McCartney show
10. Stella McCartney
The vegetarian designer welcomed the gorgeous Natalia V back to the catwalk

Paris top ten: Boudoir Noir lingerie
One to watch: Blouson Noir
As we entered the showroom we witnessed a Japanese buying frenzy and we could definitely see why: there was not a piece in this collection that we did not want to try on, shoot, and own. Former Harpers Bazaar stylist and creative director at Helmut Lang, Melanie Ward and designer Graham Tabor are the duo behind the most exciting new label we have seen in a long time. What makes Blouson Noir so desirable is the design duo's clear understanding of the female form along with details like carefully placed pockets on the back of skirts (to showcase the derriere) and the subtle cut of dresses to expose the sexiest part of the leg. No detail is left untouched, down to the lining of the jackets. We have no doubt this will be on every fashionisitas shopping list next season. Stockists: as we go to press BN is in a bidding war with several UK stores … watch this space.

Paris top ten: Isabel Marant jacket
One to watch: Isabel Marant
Isabel Marant has been on the French fashion scene for over 15 years but last season her collection piqued the interest of every fashion editor. We longed to be the nonchalant Parisian beauty who would wear it. It tapped into everything we wanted in our wardrobe, studded ankle boots, relaxed jackets and an animal print playful chiffon skirt. This season she has reworked the must-have trophy jacket in tweed, and decorated it with vintage jewels. To really work the Lou Doillon vibe wear it with slouchy trousers and a masculine vest. J’adore! Available at matchesfashion.com

Paris top ten: No Edition jacket
One to watch: No Edition
This label does exactly what it says on the tin. Every piece is a one-off first edition. Using CCTV footage of a model on New York’s streets, prints have been made, blown up and distorted into new images and applied to chiffon vests, leather jackets and jersey T-shirt dresses. This is a label that is streets ahead. Stockists: noeditions.com
