A study has revealed the 10 most dangerous routes for Scot drivers.
Carried out by Carinsurance.ae, the study has analysed Department of Transport data between 2013-2020; in all local authorities across Scotland on the rate of reported road accidents per 1,000 people.
Findings have revealed that Argyll & Bute in the Scottish Highlands comes in first as the most dangerous area in the country for drivers - with a 1.99 accident rate.
In second place is the City of Edinburgh. The rate for the capital city of Scotland is 1.78.
Stirling is third with an average of 1.66 accidents per 1000 residents annually.
The study has also revealed that Glasgow has the most road accidents per year than anywhere else in Scotland.
A spokesperson for CarInsurance.ae said: “It is interesting to see the difference in the number of reported road accidents across Great Britain, despite England, Scotland, and Wales all following the same Highway Code.
"According to the data, the roads of Scotland are considerably safer than those of London.
"Road safety is an important issue for everyone, whether you are a driver, passenger, or pedestrian, and this study reveals some fascinating facts on the safest areas for road travel.”

- Dumfries and Galloway: 1.65 accidents per 1000
- Scottish Borders: 1.61 per 1000
- Glasgow, City of: 1.61 per 1000
- West Lothian: 1.60 per 1000
- Midlothian: 1.54 per 1000
- Highland: 1.53 per 1000
- South Ayrshire: 1.41 per 1000
