'Too far' - John McGinn's hilarious Scotland win response to Braveheart poser

John McGinn delivered a hilarious response after Scotland's win over Poland as he played down the result when facing a bizarre Braveheart poser.

While thrilled to see Scotland triumph in Poland - and finish third in Nations League Group A1 - McGinn suggested the result had been taken a bit "too far" in a post-match interview.

Quizzed by a local journalist over the win potentially being one of the greatest in Scottish football, McGinn simply branded the result a "good win".

The reporter asked: "One of the greatest to the day, in the history of Scottish football because it was very Braveheart, especially at the end."

But McGinn responded: "Aw, you're taking it a bit too far. It was a good win. Thank you!"

The Scotland vice-captain scored his 20th goal for his country in the win - having netted days earlier against Croatia too - to overtake Ally McCoist in the scoring charts.

And McGinn insists he will be sure to mention it to the popular co-commentator as he revealed a touching message from his dad over the special accolade.

"Aye, it's mad," he told BBC Scotland. "My dad was over at the game tonight, he's not one for emotional messages or anything but he sent a nice text to say it's surreal seeing his boy in the top five all-time scorers for Scotland which is a bit mad.

"I'm sure I'll wind Ally McCoist up the next time he's commentating on a Villa game but for us the most important thing was getting the win.

"We've been through a right rough spell, taken a lot of criticism which has been deserved in the most part.

"Personally, a long goal drought, club and country but managed to get two in two and back on scoring form and back to winning ways for us."
