Tony Romo hilariously narrated the Bengals’ Jessie Bates faking an injury to stall against the Chiefs

Since joining the broadcast booth, Tony Romo has been known to call out plays before they happen. But really, his most underrated announcing quirk has to be his ability to narrate on-field conversations as they happen.

During Sunday’s Week 13 game between the Bengals and Chiefs, play was briefly stopped when Cincinnati’s Jessie Bates went down with an “injury.” It was an odd time to get hurt, considering Bates was part of the defensive huddle just seconds earlier.

Well, Romo quickly spotted what happened and, of course, had to narrate the entire dialogue.

Basically, the Chiefs caught the Bengals in the middle of a late substitution. So, in an effort to stop play, Bates faked an injury. This was how Romo called the moment:

Romo included the sound of Bates in pain because of course he did.

Obviously, that kind of gamesmanship should warrant a penalty. But as long as players can get away with it, you’ll see those fake injuries in NFL games.

Still, fans were not happy that the flop went unnoticed by game officials.
