Bailey Wright made his first start of the Championship campaign as Tony Mowbray made two changes to the Sunderland side that started last weekend's defeat at home to Burnley. The Australia international replaced Trai Hume in defence, prompting a reshuffle with Luke O'Nien moving to right-back to fill the gap left by Hume while Wright started alongside Danny Batth.
The second change saw Leon Dajaku come into the side, with Elliot Embleton making way. Dajaku played wide on the right, with Jack Clarke on the left and Amad through the middle.
As expected, both Ellis Simms and Patrick Roberts were included on the bench. On-loan Everton striker Simms was back in the squad for the first time since he picked up a toe injury at Reading in mid-September, which then led to a seven-game absence.

Roberts was available again after being left out against Burnley due to a minor hamstring issue. Luton boss Nathan Jones also made two changes, in his case to the side that lost 4-0 at Watford last weekend.
