Tony McGregor says Conor is 'top of the food chain' during visit to The Black Forge

Tony McGregor paid a visit to his son's Black Forge Inn during which he anointed the former UFC double-champ 'top of the food chain.'

Like his son, McGregor senior is never short of a few words so it was a fairly on-brand comment.

While there, Tony also indulged in a sumptuous three-course meal.

To start off, he had an artistically dressed starter which featured berries as well as a chocolate sauce.

Then for the main event he had a 10oz steak with chips and giant onion rings complete with pepper sauce.

The best may well have been left for last, however, as whatever sort of berry-laden dessert it was he opted for, it looked mighty good.

The Black Forge has earned rave reviews for its food since McGregor pumped over €1m into renovating it which included hiring some of the finest chefs in Dublin.

The investment has paid dividends as it scooped numerous honours at The Bar of the Year awards.

The Black Forge Inn was named the Best Newcomer and also picked up the Outstanding Customer Service Award, while the pub's manager Liam Flynn won the Staff Personality of the Year Award.

The Crumlin pub also picked up the Silver Award for Bar Food of the Year.

The UFC star jetted in from Majorca to attend the awards ceremony, which took place at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road in the capital.

A photo posted on the Black Forge Inn's Instagram account showed McGregor celebrating the wins with staff from his pub as he held a bottle of his Proper 12 Whiskey.

The caption read: "THE BEST NEW BAR IN IRELAND - THE BLACK FORGE INN. THE BEST TEAM. THE BEST PUB. A DIFFERENT LEVEL."

Posting on social media ahead of the awards ceremony, McGregor wrote: "The @baroftheyear_ awards this evening! It is no wonder @theblackforgeinn is up for a ton of awards! A great honor! Congrats and good luck to my team."

The boozer has had a number of well-known visitors in recent months, including jockey Frankie Dettori, former Celtic striker John Hartson and Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
