Radio legend Tony Blackburn has missed his regular show on BBC Radio 2 after falling ill. Tony, 80, usually presents Sounds of the 60s between 6am and 8am on Saturdays and Golden Hour on Sundays.
Taking to Twitter to explain his absence, Tony wrote: "Sorry to say I won’t be doing my shows over the weekend as I have a very annoying virus which is taking its time to go away. Tomorrow on Sounds Of The Sixties you will hear my special “Happy Birthday show” and on Sunday there will be a recorded Golden Hour. Have a great evening."
Tony Blackburn was the inaugural king of the jungle when he was crowned winner of I'm A Celebrity in 2002. Known to millions as a BBC radio presenter, he triumphed over socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson.
After his stint in the jungle, he returned to radio.
Singer Sheila Ferguson replied to Tony's tweet saying: "Get well soon my friend. And take your time to heal."
Fanm Steve Harvey replied: "Get well soon Tony, really missing your golden tones this morning! All best wishes for a speedy recovery."
Kim Woodgate added: "Oh no! You poor thing! That's the most important thing though is for you to get better!! We will be ok. Let's hope you get better soon xx"
Listener Roy Proud said: "You take it steady Tony, some of these new bugs take a lot of shaking off."
