Toni Kroos speaks out over foul mouthed Liverpool interview after Champions League win

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has cleared up why he stormed out of an interview after helping beat Liverpool in the Champions League final.

The Reds were defeated by the la Liga outfit 1-0 on Saturday night at the Stade de France. Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the contest in Paris.

After the final whistle, Kroos was interviewed on the pitch by a reporter, and did not like what was being asked.

Asked initially to share his view on if he believed Madrid's victory was ‘not taken for granted’, Kroos snapped back: "What is taken for granted? Winning the Champions League is also not taken for granted. We put up a great fight and we knew that Liverpool are a great team. What does ‘not taken for granted’ mean? We won. Finished."

The situation then escalated further when the 32-year-old fielding a question on whether he was surprised he and his team-mates were put under a lot of pressure by the Reds during proceedings. Pulling no punches with his response, the Madrid midfielder said: "You had 90 minutes to think about sensible questions. And then you ask me two s****y questions. That’s crazy.

"It’s not surprising that you get into trouble against Liverpool. What is that a question? We’re not playing a group game somewhere, we’re playing the Champions League final."

Kroos then decided to terminate the interview with German broadcaster, ZDF, before sharing some parting words as he walked away. "It’s really bad. Really bad, really," he remarked. "First you ask three negative questions. You already know that you come from Germany."

Now Kroos has attempted to clear up why he was not happy with the questions asked during the interview. The Germany international was speaking on the podcast he co-hosts with his brother Felix, 'Einfach mal Luppen’.

"At the time I was just p***** off. I was p***** off at him," said Kroos, via Yahoo .

"Of course we had [suffered]. They have to go through two or three phases of pressure, I also told him that when he asked the question.

"But that's normal. What do you expect? That we dominate Liverpool for 90 minutes? They are a world-class team. We had to beat them and that's what we did.

"I wouldn't have said we put them up against the wall from the first minute to the 90th minute.

"I'm the first to say that it was a close game and Liverpool probably had a few more chances. But we won the game, like in the last few months.

"But instead I hear that we won unfairly. I don't give a s*** in a final, you have to win it."
