Tommy McIntyre swaps Celtic for Queen's Park as highly-rated coach explains 'innovative' move

Former Celtic coach Tommy McIntyre has joined up at Queen’s Park to boost their youth set up.

He makes the move across the city to the south side club to take the role as Head of Coaching at the Academy. The former Aberdeen and Hibs player spent 13 years at Parkhead working in various positions at the Hoops. He also enjoyed a spell working at the SFA responsible for Scottish Youth Development. Now he’ll oversee the full Spiders academy set up helping coaches from U-15 level up to and including Young Queen’s Park.

The Mount Florida club have previous history producing top young talent with Scotland captain Andy Robertson starting his trade at the club. McIntyre said: “I’m delighted to be joining Queen’s Park Football Club. It’s an honour and a privilege to be working with such an innovative and forward-thinking club.

“Over the last few months, I held extensive discussions with Marijn, where he outlined the club’s vision and plans. I’m excited and passionate about being given the opportunity to become part of that.

“Everyone within the club has given me such a warm welcome and l thank the many people who helped in making this happen. Now I’m looking forward to getting to down to work.”

McIntyre left the Celtic B side which are learning their trade in the Scottish Lowland Football League. The side are now managed by former Celtic captain Stephen MacManus and Darren O’Dea and currently sit eighth in the table.
