Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul in talks for summer blockbuster bout

Tommy Fury could finally be getting the fight he's waited a year for with talks between his camps and Jake Paul 's underway for a blockbuster summer bout between the two rivals.

The Metro have reported that the two camps are indeed in negotiations for a fight on August 6, but John Fury has stated that the fight is not yet agreed and there's still work to be done.

It comes after the American YouTuber announced that he'll return to the ring on August 6, fighting on the same card as Amanda Serrano, who was defeated in a close bout to Katie Taylor in April.

Fury and Paul had been scheduled to fight one another in December, but Fury was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering a broken rib and struggling with a bacterial chest infection. Instead, Paul's former opponent Woodley stepped up to replace Fury and Paul landed a knockout shot on the former UFC champion.

Fury would himself go on to fight at Wembley Stadium on the undercard of older brother Tyson, and picked up a convincing victory over Daniel Bocianski, who had a 10-1 record.

And with the two continuing to go back and forth, it seems that Paul has decided to entertain the idea of facing Fury this summer.

John Fury told the Metro: "We’re looking at the Jake Paul situation but there’s a long way to go with it. That’s still in negotiation and up in the air, the lawyers are dealing with it as we speak. If not August for Tommy’s next fight, it’ll be September because we’re busy ourselves up until then.

"I’m not interested in what Jake Paul does unless we’re fighting him, but he’s good for boxing. He’s bringing new eyes and he’s making a lot of noise. We’re trying our best to get the fight with Tommy over the line, but there are a couple of major factors we’re trying to get ironed out and if we can, we’ll do it, and if we can’t it’ll be someone else.

"Whoever’s out there and it’s sensible, we’ll get it on."
