Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight cancelled again with new opponent confirmed tomorrow

Tommy Fury’s fight against Jake Paul on August 6 is off - with the American YouTuber-turned-boxer set to announce a new opponent.

Fury, 23, was denied entry to the US for the recent pre-fight press conference, sparking fears that the bout would be cancelled for a second time.

Paul gave Fury until Wednesday to resolve his visa issues which would allow him to make the journey across the Atlantic but has now confirmed on social media that the necessary arrangements were not made in time.

Paul, 25, tweeted: “Fury’s received a termination notice. MVP [Most Valuable Promotions] did everything it could to help him and team. He wasn’t interested and he literally went into hiding. Second time in a row he has pulled out. second time in a row I’m going to step up and take on a new opponent on short notice. August 6. MSG.”

Fury was originally meant to face long-term rival Paul in December last year but had to pull out because of illness and injury problems.

The former Love Island star saw off Poland’s Daniel Bocianski with a dominant points decision win on the undercard of half-brother Tyson’s heavyweight title victory against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April.

After that victory, he called out Paul, saying: “Jake Paul - this should have been done a long time ago in December and if you want it I'm here and I'm ready for you.”

But the prospect of a fight now looks further away than ever with Fury’s team believed to have been keen on staging it away from the US to allow his family to attend. Tyson was reportedly also denied entry to the country recently while their father, John, is banned from entering due to his criminal record.

Paul still plans to fight at Madison Square Garden next month and says he will announce a new fight tomorrow (Thursday).

Hasim Rahman Jr, the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, is believed to be his new opponent.
