Tommy Fury says he 'couldn't say no to Molly-Mae's baby name' as he slams parent-shamers

Tommy Fury has explained why he didn’t feel he could say no to Molly-Mae Hague’s suggestion for the name of their baby girl, who they revealed is called Bambi.

The former Love Island stars, both 23, welcomed their baby girl in January, but they didn’t reveal the highly-anticipated birth announcement until a week later, when Molly-Mae announced the unusual name.

Molly-Mae shared a photo of her newborn daughter laying in a cot in her nursery, which had a neon sign of her name as well as a Bambi plush toy from the Disney movie.

Revealing her daughter's name to fans by posting the photo, she added in the caption: “Bambi,” followed by a white heart emoji.

Professional boxer Tommy appeared on Loose Women on Thursday afternoon, hot on the heels of his triumph against bitter rival Jake Paul in their grudge fight last month in Saudi Arabia.

Panellist Judi Love asked Tommy about the unusual name choice for their daughter and he described it as ‘an amazing story’.

He said: “In the villa we were obviously talking about babies and when we left we were even more talking about it.

“There was only one name for our little girl and it was Bambi because when Molly was young she only wanted to call her little daughter one thing and that was Bambi.

“So I'm not going to be that guy to say no and I love the name anyway.”

Tommy gushed about becoming a dad, saying it was ‘the best thing’ to ever happen to him.

He told the Loose Women: “Forget the boxing. Waking up every day and seeing her beautiful face, you can’t be in a bad mood. I feel like a different man through her being here so I'm very thankful.”

However, his fight with Jake Paul just weeks after Molly-Mae gave birth dd attract criticism at the time, as he was forced to leave their home to go abroad to train.

Tommy said of the blowback: “I’m not bothered about anyone’s opinions to be honest. As long as my family, my missus and my children think I'm doing alright, that’s all that matters to me.

“I know people can say what they want, but I'm away for her so she has a better future.”

The PrettyLittleThing creative director Molly-Mae had previously confessed that people would either love or hate the name she had picked out for her first-born child.

She previously said: "It's not made up, it's totally not made up, I can't explain it. It's just not a name that's ever been used before. It's very very different and rare and you're either going to love it or hate it.

"I've had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It's always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I've always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too.

"It's a really really unusual and a different name, I do not know anybody else with the name. I've not seen any other girls with the name before, it's that different."
